IND vs NZ: India have announced their squads for the upcoming multi-format tour of New Zealand, with the selectors making several important calls across the T20I, ODI and Test teams. The selection meeting, led by interim chief selector Pragyan Ojha, also finalised the India A squad for the tour. The announcement comes at an important stage for Indian cricket, with the selectors balancing established stars, emerging players and workload management ahead of a packed international calendar.
Bhuvneshwar makes surprise T20I return
One of the biggest talking points is the return of Bhuvneshwar Kumar to India’s T20I setup. The experienced seamer has earned a recall after an impressive IPL 2026 campaign, in which he claimed 28 wickets. His inclusion comes nearly four years after his last appearance for India and gives the team another experienced option with the new ball.
The T20I squad otherwise retains the core that has featured prominently in India’s recent white-ball campaigns, with Shreyas Iyer, Abhishek Sharma, Ishan Kishan, Sanju Samson, Tilak Varma, Axar Patel and Arshdeep Singh among the key names.
The India A squad has been selected with the upcoming red-ball assignments in mind. The side will play three unofficial Tests in New Zealand, beginning on October 24, with several senior players expected to feature in at least one game to acclimatise to local conditions.
