Yuzvendra Chahal retires from First-Class cricket
Yuzvendra Chahal, who once played the role of a key spin bowler for the Indian cricket team, took a big decision on October 2 and announced his retirement from first-class cricket. Chahal gave this information through his post on the social media platform Instagram, in which he also clarified that he will continue playing in limited overs cricket.
Yuzvendra Chahal shared his retirement from first-class cricket with his fans via an Instagram post, writing, “The first cricket ball I ever held was red. I was 10 years old, and I had no idea then how deeply I would fall in love with the game. Red-ball cricket was never just another format for me. It was in this format that I learned the true joy of patience, the courage to face adversity, and the joy of staying on the field for hours, fighting for every run and every wicket. I played my last first-class match at Lord’s. It’s emotional to say this, because earning a Test cap has always been a dream of mine, one I cherished for many years. Even though that dream didn’t come true, I’m truly satisfied with my journey and incredibly grateful for every opportunity I’ve had in this format.”

Sri Lanka announces squad for Pakistan series
A major change has taken place in the Sri Lankan squad ahead of the T20 matches against Pakistan. Captain Kusal Mendis has returned to the team and will resume the captaincy. Mendis had missed the recent tour of England due to a hamstring injury; Charith Asalanka had shouldered the captaincy responsibilities in his absence.
Sri Lanka has made six changes to the squad that toured England for the upcoming Pakistan tour. Sri Lanka had suffered a 0-3 defeat in the three-match T20 series against England and will now aim to bounce back with a better performance against Pakistan.
Kusal Mendis’s return will bolster the team’s batting lineup in addition to strengthening the leadership. However, opening batsman Pathum Nissanka is missing from the squad due to injury. Spinner Wanindu Hasaranga will also remain unavailable for the T20 matches against Pakistan; he had returned home after suffering lower back pain during a practice session prior to the first ODI against England last month.
