This was a record-breaking win for the Harry Brook-led English side; the team chased down the target in just 58 balls. In the match played at Old Trafford, Manchester, Sri Lanka batted first and were bowled out for 124 runs in 18.5 overs. England then chased down the target, scoring 126 for 2 in just 9.4 overs to seal the win. With this, England completed a 3-0 clean sweep of the three-match series against Sri Lanka.

This marked England’s 15th T20 International victory over Sri Lanka. In doing so, the team equaled Pakistan’s record for the most wins against a specific opponent; Pakistan holds a record of 15 T20 victories against Zimbabwe.

England won the one-sided match

England won the toss and elected to bowl. Batting first, Sri Lanka was bowled out for 124 runs. Opener Pathum Nissanka was the top scorer for the team, hitting 36 runs off 24 balls with the help of two fours and three sixes. For England, Sonny Baker, Jofra Archer, and Will Jacks claimed two wickets each, while Liam Dawson and Jamie Overton took one wicket apiece.

England sealed the victory while chasing before the 10-over mark. Opener Jos Buttler played the highest-scoring innings, remaining unbeaten on 62 off 32 balls, an effort that included seven fours and two sixes. Buttler shared an 85-run partnership (off 38 balls) for the second wicket with captain Harry Brook, effectively securing the win for England. Brook scored 33 runs off 21 balls, including three fours and one six. Aneurin Donald scored 13 runs. Tharindu Ratnayake took the only wicket for Sri Lanka.
