Ishan Kishan smashes century for East Zone in Duleep Final
East Zone dominated the first day of the 2026 Duleep Trophy final in Chennai. Taking advantage of South Zone’s poor fielding, East Zone scored 385 for 4 in their first innings, laying the foundation for a big score.
At the close of play, captain Ishan Kishan remained unbeaten on 111 and Kumar Kushagra on 63. The two had put on an unbroken 144-run partnership for the fifth wicket in 26.4 overs. Earlier, young sensation Vaibhav Sooryavanshi (44), Abhimanyu Easwaran (72), and Shikhar Mohan (85) also made useful contributions for East Zone.
Kishan faced 135 balls in his innings, hitting 14 fours and a six. This was his 10th first-class century. Kishan also reached 4,000 runs in first-class cricket.
England complete 3-0 ODI series win over Ireland
The England women’s team defeated Ireland by 114 runs in the third match to complete a 3-0 clean sweep of the ODI series. Sophia Dunkley, who scored a century of 119 runs, was named Player of the Match and Player of the Series. Sophia scored a total of 212 runs in three matches of the series at an average of 70.67.
England, who lost the toss and elected to bat at New Road, were bowled out for 291 in 48.5 overs. Maia Bouchier and Sophia Dunkley added 73 runs for the opening wicket in 72 balls. Bouchier was dismissed for 39 runs off 35 balls, including six fours. Ireland began positively in the chase but were eventually bowled out for only 177 in 44.2 overs.
Bangladesh’s Sports Minister wants the BPL to be held annually
Bangladesh’s State Minister for Youth and Sports, Aminul Haque, stated that he was unaware the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) had been postponed due to credibility-related issues. He expressed the view that the country’s premier T20 league should be held regularly every year.
Speaking to reporters in Dhaka on Sunday, Aminul said, “I just learned about this from you (the media); I was not aware that the BPL would not take place. The BPL is a popular tournament for Bangladesh. You mentioned that the board president presented logical reasons for this. I believe a tournament like the BPL should be held every year. We need to discuss why this did not happen. We will certainly ensure in the future that such competitions are organized regularly.”
‘Decisions changing as often as changing pants’ – Jason Gillespie slams PCB
Pakistan cricket is currently in turmoil. The PCB has come under fire from former players and experts after dropping seven senior players from the squad midway through the series against England. Amidst this, former Pakistan head coach Jason Gillespie has also questioned the PCB’s treatment of the players, stating that the management’s flawed decisions have created an atmosphere of fear within the team.
Gillespie said, “The Pakistan cricket management has not treated the players with respect. There are constant changes being made to the team. The selectors are changing their decisions as frequently as one changes their pants.” He added, “I feel bad for the players. This is their livelihood. From the outside, it appears as though they are playing in an atmosphere of fear.”
