Jaiswal, Fernando fined
India opener Yashasvi Jaiswal and Sri Lanka pacer have been fined 25% of their match fee and have been handed one demerit point each for breaching ICC Code of Conduct. The duo were fined after an altercation between them, following Jaiswal’s dismissal. Jaiswal claimed that he was provoked and, during the argument, his head collided with Fernando.
This was deemed to be a Level 1 offence, breaching Article 2.12 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel, relating to “inappropriate physical contact with a Player, Player Support Personnel, Umpire, Match Referee or any other person (including a spectator during an International Match).” Both players accepted their sanctions, and no formal hearing was required as a result.
Afghanistan announce T20I squad for India series
Afghanistan have announced their squad for the three-match T20I series against India. Fast bowler Naveen ul Haq has and all-rounder Gulbadin Naib have returned to the side in what will be Ibrahim Zadran’s first assignment as the country’s T20I captain. Uncapped wicketkeeper Noor Rahman has also been included following his impressive performances in the Shpageeza Cricket League.
Rashid Khan, Mohammad Nabi, Noor Ahmad and Nangyal Kharoti are the spin options at Afghanistan’s disposal. The three T20Is are scheduled to be played on September 13, 15 and 17.

Cremer returns to Zimbabwe squad for Namibia T20Is
Former Zimbabwe captain Graeme Cremer has returned to the side for the Namibia tri-series after recovering from a left-arm injury. Cremer last played for Zimbabwe in the Super Eights game against South Africa in the T20 World Cup 2026. Uncapped fast bowler Kundai Matigimu has also been included in the squad, despite having played just 11 T20s. Richard Ngarava (lower back) and Tanaka Chivanga (Achilles tendon) miss out due to injuries.
The tri-series featuring Zimbabwe, Namibia and South Africa will get underway from August 28 onwards, with all matches set to be played at the Namibia Cricket Ground in Windhoek.

Carse dropped from England squad for 2nd Test vs Pakistan
England pacer Brydon Carse has been dropped from the squad for the second Test against Pakistan due to the investigation over his involvement in an incident at a nightclub. Sonny Baker, who has played just one Test, replaces him in the squad. ECB’s Cricket Regulator, an independent body, will conduct the investigation as it did when England dropped Ben Stokes and Gus Atkinson earlier in the summer for a similar offence.
“Brydon Carse will no longer be available for selection for the Second Men’s Rothesay Test Match while this investigation is ongoing and the full facts are obtained,” the ECB statement said.
The second Test will be played at Lord’s from August 27.
