ENG vs PAK: Pakistan suffered a humiliating defeat by an innings and 103 runs against England in the first Test at Headingley, Leeds. England scored so many runs in one innings that Pakistan couldn’t even reach it after playing two innings. The Pakistani team failed to surpass 200 runs in either innings, while England posted over 400 runs in just one innings.

The match (ENG vs PAK), which began on August 19th, ended on the third day (August 21st). Pakistan’s poor performance was a significant factor in the match’s early end. The team failed to impress with the bat or bowl.

England outperformed Pakistan from the start

England won the toss and elected to bowl. Batting first, Pakistan were bundled out for just 171 in their first innings. Abdullah Shafique top-scored for the team with 61 runs, including eight fours. No other batsman reached fifty. Ollie Robinson and Josh Tongue took five wickets each for England.

The English team, coming out to bat in their first innings, scored 409 runs for 10 wickets, batting brilliantly. Harry Brook top-scored for the team with 91 runs, studded with 13 fours. Jordan Cox, captain Joe Root, and Dan Lawrence also scored fifties. Ali Usman took the highest five wickets for Pakistan in this innings, giving England a 238-run lead.

Pakistan now needed to erase the lead and then set England a target. However, they were bundled out for just 135 runs in the fourth innings. Ollie Robinson and Jofra Archer took three wickets each for England, securing England a victory by an innings and 103 runs.
