Shoriful Islam passes fitness test ahead of Australia series

The Bangladesh cricket team has received a major relief ahead of the two-match Test series against Australia, starting on August 13. According to reports, Bangladesh’s star left-arm fast bowler Shoriful Islam has passed the fitness test and is now available to play in the first Test of the series.

The first match of the two-match Test series between Bangladesh and Australia will be played in Darwin from August 13th to 17th. Shoriful’s fitness was crucial for Bangladesh in this series. He suffered a hamstring injury during the Zimbabwe tour in July. Due to this, it was believed that he might be out of the first Test against Australia. However, he made a rapid recovery and passed the fitness test.

According to a report in Cricbuzz, Shahriar Nafees, the Bangladesh Cricket Board’s cricket operations in-charge, also confirmed Shoriful’s fitness. He stated that the bowler has recovered from his injury and passed a fitness test and is now fully ready to play.

Sourav Ganguly received death-threat, files complaint

Former Indian cricket captain and former BCCI president Sourav Ganguly has reportedly received a threatening letter. His personal secretary, Tania Bhattacharya, has filed a written complaint with the Thakurpukur police station. The complaint expresses serious concerns about the safety of Sourav Ganguly, his wife Dona Ganguly, and their staff.

In her written complaint, Tania Bhattacharya stated that she was writing to the police on Sourav Ganguly’s behalf and that she worked as his personal secretary. In the complaint, she drew the police’s attention to the alleged threatening letters Sourav Ganguly and his family had been receiving. According to the complaint, for the past few months, letters containing derogatory comments against Sourav Ganguly had been received from an unknown person.

Abishek Porel arrested in sexual assault case

Abishek Porel, a cricketer representing the Indian Premier League (IPL) team Delhi Capitals and Bengal, has been arrested on charges related to rape, criminal intimidation, and other sexual offenses. According to the latest updates reported by the cricket website Cricinfo, Porel was arrested on the night of August 11 by the Mogra police in the Hooghly district of West Bengal. The case registered against him includes allegations of rape, criminal intimidation, and threatening to make private photos and videos public.

The case against Porel was filed on June 30. Reports indicate that a medical student lodged a police complaint alleging that he engaged in sexual relations with her after promising marriage and subsequently threatened to release private photos and videos.

Bilateral ODI series will be fewer in future: Jonty Rhodes

Former South African cricketer Jonty Rhodes has said that the number of bilateral ODI series may decrease in the future, but it is difficult to imagine cricket without the 50-over format. Rhodes believes that fans will continue to come to the ground to support their team, regardless of the format. However, he admitted that 50-over cricket may face some challenges in the coming years.

Rhodes said, “We are fortunate that 50-over cricket has such passionate fans who support their team regardless of the format or version.” He added, “At the moment I think bilateral series will become less frequent but it is very difficult to imagine cricket without 50-over cricket.”

Heinrich Klaasen and David Miller to make their debut in ILT20

All the teams have intensified their preparations for the fifth season of the International League T20 (ILT20). The upcoming season will see several major international stars play in ILT20 for the first time. South Africans David Miller and Heinrich Klaasen have been signed by the Gulf Giants, while New Zealand’s Finn Allen will be part of the Abu Dhabi Knight Riders. Australian all-rounder Marcus Stoinis will also return to ILT20 after three years, playing for the Dubai Capitals. The fifth season of ILT20 will be played from November 22nd to December 20th.
