Former Australian cricketer found guilty of child sexual abuse

Former Australian cricketer Aaron Summers has been found guilty of child sexual abuse charges. Summers has pleaded guilty, which could lead to jail time. The case against Summers, who has played in the Big Bash League and Pakistan’s PSL, dates back to 2018, when he played for the Hobart Hurricanes. The final sentence in this case will be announced in August.

The Supreme Court of Tasmania heard that Aaron Summers had contacted the victim on social media before the incident. During the hearing, Summers’ lawyer, Carolyn Graves, urged the court to show leniency to Summers, as he was going through a difficult time in his life at the time of the incident. Aaron Summers was known for bowling at speeds of up to 150 km/h. He was arrested in 2021 in a child sexual abuse case, after which he retired from cricket. In 2021, he served a prison sentence for other child abuse-related offenses.
