The first day of the second unofficial Test match between India A and Sri Lanka A (IND A vs SL A) at the Galle International Stadium saw some wonderful cricket, and Sri Lanka are in a strong position at the end of the day’s play. Sri Lanka A have scored 288 runs for the loss of five wickets. Captain Sahan Arachchige remains unbeaten after scoring 83 runs, while, Chamika Gunasekara (6) is supporting him with the bat on the other end.
Jurel won the toss and elected to field
Talking about the match, India A captain Dhruv Jurel won the toss and elected to bowl. The opening pair gave Sri Lanka a mediocre start. Sri Lanka suffered their first loss in the form of Sohan de Livera (28). Yash Thakur had him caught by Devdutt Padikkal. Opener Pawantha Weerasinghe (39), nearing his fifty, was trapped by Gurnur Brar and was caught by wicketkeeper Dhruv Jurel.

Nuwanidu Fernando (44) and Ashen Bandara then steadied the innings and added a half-century partnership. Saransh Jain brought India back into the game, having Nuwanidu caught by Padikkal. Bandara (34) was dismissed at 171. Yash Thakur took his wicket. Sri Lanka suffered their final blow of the day in the form of Anjala Bandara, who was bowled by Saransh for 42.
Regarding the Indian bowlers, Saransh Jain and Yash Thakur were the most successful on the first day, claiming two wickets each. Jain bowled the highest number of overs—24—conceding 77 runs, while Thakur conceded 32 runs in his 24-over spell. Apart from the duo, Gurnoor Brar also picked up a wicket. Auqib Nabi and Zeeshan Ansari, however, went wicketless despite bowling 15 and 16 overs respectively.
