IND A vs SL A: Sri Lanka edge past in Super Over, India falls short by 7 runs

IND A vs SL A: Sri Lanka A defeated India A in the Super Over the 4th match of the ODI tri-series (IND A vs SL A). India A were set a target of 17 runs in the Super Over, but despite the presence of Vaibhav Sooryavanshi and Suryansh, India A could only manage 9 runs, and India A lost the match. Batting first, India A scored 265 with half-centuries from Suryansh Shedge (72) and Vipraj Nigam (51). In reply, the hosts reached 265 for nine, thanks to Sadeera Samarawickrama’s 93. However, they failed to score five runs in the final over.

Vaibhav failed to score big after a good start

Invited to bat first, the Indian openers failed once again. Prabhsimran Singh managed only 11 runs off 13 balls, while Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, despite a blistering start, was dismissed for 21. He played 14 balls and hit three fours and a six. Ruturaj Gaikwad (37) and captain Tilak Verma (23) tried to steady the team with a 52-run partnership for the third wicket. However, neither side was able to sustain the innings. Nishant Sindhu (6), Ayush Badoni (15), and Anukul Roy (8) were dismissed cheaply, leaving India A at 143 for seven.

Suryansh and Vipraj then steadied the innings, sharing a century-long partnership of 104 runs for the eighth wicket. Both Suryansh and Vipraj scored their first half-centuries in List A cricket. Vipraj was dismissed after playing a 49-ball innings studded with six fours. The last two wickets fell for 18 runs. Suryansh scored 72 runs off 66 balls, studded with three fours and two sixes. He was the last wicket to be dismissed. For Sri Lanka A, Mohammed Shiraz and Vijayakanth Viyaskanth were the most successful, taking three wickets each.

Sri Lanka A also scored 265 runs while chasing

In reply, Sri Lanka A got off to a good start while chasing the target. Niroshan Dickwella and Avishka Fernando shared a fifty-run partnership for the first wicket. Avishka Fernando was dismissed for 22 runs, while Vishen Halambage departed after scoring 17. Niroshan Dickwella was out for 37.

From that point on, Sadeera Samarawickrama held one end and steadily progressed towards the target, while the other batsmen fell in quick succession at the opposite end. Sahan Arachchige (8), Ahan Wickramasinghe (6), Vanuja Sahan (25), and Vijayakanth Viyaskanth (18) were all dismissed, while Samarawickrama completed his half-century during this period.

Sadeera Samarawickrama played an innings of 92 runs. Towards the end, Chamika scored 18 runs, bringing the team level with the target. Two runs were needed off the final ball, but Chamika was run out. Sri Lanka finished on 265 for 9. For India, Ayush Badoni claimed 2 wickets, while Vipraj Nigam, Arshad Khan, and Anukul Roy took 1 wicket each.

India A 265 all out in 49.2 overs (Suryansh Shedge 72, Vipraj Nigam 51; Vijayakanth Viyaskanth 3-26, Mohamed Shiraz 3-33) tied with Sri Lanka A 265/9 in 50 overs (Sadeera Samarawickrama 93, Niroshan Dickwella 37; Ayush Badoni 2-45). Sri Lanka A won in the Super Over.
