Women’s T20 World Cup 2026: Rampant Australia dominate South Africa, win by 65 runs

In the third match of the Women’s T20 World Cup 2026, the Australia women’s cricket team defeated the South Africa women’s cricket team by 65 runs, starting the tournament with a win. She hit nine fours and one six before departing. This marked her third T20I half-century of her career. She shared 37 runs off 18 balls with Perry and 23 runs off 18 balls with Beth Mooney. Litchfield has now become the second-fastest Australian batter to reach a half-century in T20 World Cup history. The record for the fastest half-century for Australia is held by Alysse Healy (21 balls vs. Ireland, 2018).

While chasing South Africa, captain Laura Wolvaardt top-scored with 44 off 39 balls, while Nadine de Klerk contributed 25 off 22 deliveries. However, the rest of the batting lineup failed to make a significant impact. For Australia, apart from Wareham, captain Sophie Molineux and spinner Alana King claimed two wickets each, while Kim Garth and Ashleigh Gardner chipped in with one wicket apiece.
