SRH beat CSK to qualify for playoffs
The 63rd match of IPL 2026 was played between the Chennai Super Kings and the Sunrisers Hyderabad, in which the Sunrisers Hyderabad secured a victory by 5 wickets. With this win, the Hyderabad team has qualified for the playoffs. Along with Hyderabad, the Gujarat Titans have also qualified for the playoffs. Now, four teams will compete for the one remaining spot.
In the match played at the Chidambaram Stadium, the Chennai Super Kings won the toss and elected to bat first. Batting first, the Chennai Super Kings did not get off to a particularly good start. In the end, Chennai reached a total of 180. But Ishan Kishan played an innings of 70 runs for SRH that helped the team to win by 5 wickets.
I don’t care if Dhoni plays last game or not, says Sanjay Manjrekar
Mahendra Singh Dhoni has been unable to play in IPL 2026 due to injury. He first suffered a calf strain and then a thumb injury, which has kept him out of action. Without him, the Chennai Super Kings have struggled in IPL 2026. They lack a finisher like him. Furthermore, his tactical skills on the field have been lacking. As a result, the five-time champions are struggling to reach the playoffs.
Former cricketer Sanjay Manjrekar says that if Dhoni were the captain of the team playing this season, it would have been in the playoffs. Speaking to Sportstar, he said, “If Prime Dhoni were captaining this CSK, this team would have reached the playoffs. Currently, Chennai is playing under the captaincy of Ruturaj Gaikwad. He became the captain of this team in 2024. However, when he had to step down due to injury in 2025, Dhoni took over the captaincy.”
Cooper Connolly breaks Sanath Jayasuriya’s 18-year record in IPL
Cooper Connolly’s partnership with Priyansh Arya for the Punjab Kings has really stood out this IPL season (IPL 2026). Here’s a batter who doesn’t just play shots—he reads the game and adapts on the fly, turning heads almost every time he steps out. He’s already slammed a hundred, which says a lot.
Last Sunday, Connolly smashed 38 off 27 balls against Royal Challengers Bengaluru in Dharamsala, even though conditions favored the bowlers. In that knock, he broke a record that had stood for 18 years. Sanath Jayasuriya had blasted 31 sixes in the IPL back in 2008 when he played for Mumbai Indians, but now Connolly has gone beyond that.
