While chasing the target of 201 runs set by Punjab, Tilak played a match-winning innings for Mumbai, scoring 75* runs off just 33 balls, studded with 6 fours and 6 sixes. Mumbai Indians’ stand-in captain, Jasprit Bumrah, won the toss and elected to bowl first. Batting first thereafter, Punjab Kings posted a total of 200 runs for the loss of 8 wickets within their allotted 20 overs.
Bumrah becomes third player to lead MI in a single IPL season
On Thursday, Jasprit Bumrah stepped out to lead Mumbai in the match against Punjab Kings. With this, Bumrah set a new record regarding captaincy. He has now become the third player to captain the Mumbai Indians in a single IPL season. Furthermore, the Mumbai Indians have now become the first team in IPL history to be led by three different Indian captains within a single season.
It is worth mentioning that Mumbai Indians’ regular captain, Hardik Pandya, is not playing in this match due to a lack of fitness, while vice-captain Suryakumar Yadav is sitting out for personal reasons. Consequently, Bumrah received the opportunity to take up the captaincy, thereby becoming the third player to lead MI this season.
