Delhi Capitals (DC) pacer Lugi Ngidi has been hospitalised after he fell on his head while attempting a catch against Punjab Kings (PBKS) on April 25 (Saturday). The incident took place during the chase when Ngidi tracked back from mid-off in a bid to take the catch, but while doing so, he fell on his head, forcing him to be stretchered out.
The Indian Premier League (IPL) have provided an update stating that he has been hospitalised after he complained of headache and neck pain.
IPL statement
“Lungisani Ngidi of Delhi Capitals hit his head on the ground while attempting to take a catch during his team’s match against Punjab Kings. He was shifted to the hospital in an ambulance as he complained of a headache and neck pain. Ngidi is stable and is due to be discharged shortly from the hospital,” the IPL said in a release.
Ngidi discharged
An update from DC has confirmed that the pacer is stable and will be “discharged shortly” from the hospital.
With Ngidi gone, Vipraj Nigam came in as a concussion substitute. The leg-spinner picked up the wicket of Nehal Wadhera but conceded 24 runs from his two overs.
Ngidi is DC’s joint-highest wicket-taker this season, with seven scalps. He has been brilliant this season with his change of pace, often leaving the batters bamboozled. Earlier, DC scored 264/2 – their highest total in IPL history. KL Rahul was the star of the show with an unbeaten 152.
