CSK beat Mumbai Indians by 103 runs
On Thursday, Chennai Super Kings (CSK) have defeated Mumbai Indians (MI) by 103 runs in IPL 2026. This marks Chennai’s largest victory and MI’s heaviest defeat in the history of the Indian Premier League. Although the Mumbai team was playing on their home ground, Chennai—playing at the Wankhede Stadium—utterly crushed Mumbai in their own backyard. Batting first, CSK posted a total of 207 runs, a innings highlighted by a century from Sanju Samson. In response, the Mumbai team failed to even complete their full quota of 20 overs and was bowled out for just 104 runs.
Chennai Super Kings have set a new record in the IPL for defeating Mumbai Indians by the largest margin of runs. Prior to this, Mumbai’s heaviest defeat in the IPL was by a margin of 87 runs, suffered against the Rajasthan Royals in 2013. Furthermore, Mumbai’s largest defeat specifically against Chennai had previously stood at 48 runs. However, CSK has now surpassed that margin by defeating MI by 103 runs. This stands as Chennai Super Kings’ largest victory in the IPL in terms of runs. Previously, CSK’s biggest win by runs was by a margin of 97 runs, achieved against Kings XI Punjab (now Punjab Kings) in 2015.
Delhi Capitals signs Rehan Ahmed for IPL 2026
Delhi Capitals have signed English cricketer Rehan Ahmed as a replacement for Ben Duckett for IPL 2026. Ahmed will join the Delhi Capitals for a fee of ₹7.5 million (7.5 million rupees). Duckett had withdrawn from the IPL 2026 season, citing his commitment to the England cricket team. Delhi did not immediately announce his replacement, and in his absence, Sri Lankan Pathum Nissanka has taken over the responsibility of opening the innings alongside KL Rahul.
21-year-old Rehan Ahmed has already made waves around the world with his leg-spin bowling. Known as a bowling all-rounder, Ahmed has taken 85 wickets and scored 1,071 runs in 97 T20 matches. He has also performed exceptionally well in The Hundred League, taking 23 wickets in 25 innings. He also has experience playing in the Big Bash League and ILT20. This will be the first time Rehan Ahmed will play for an IPL team.
CSK includes Akash Madhwal in place of Ayush Mhatre
Chennai Super Kings (CSK) on Thursday named Aakash Madhwal as a replacement for Ayush Mhatre, who has been ruled out of the remainder of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 due to injury. Mhatre, captain of India’s Under-19 World Cup winning team, had a brilliant start to the season for CSK.
He scored two half-centuries in six matches but suffered a left hamstring injury during the match against Sunrisers Hyderabad. Madhwal joins CSK for ₹30 lakh. The right-arm fast bowler has previously represented Mumbai Indians (2023, 2024) and Rajasthan Royals (2025).
