IPL 2026 Bulletin: Major Talking Points | April 1, 2026

Delhi Capitals beat Lucknow Super Giants by 6 wickets

Lucknow Super Giants took on Delhi Capitals in the fifth IPL 2026 match on Wednesday at Lucknow’s Ekana Stadium. Playing at home, Lucknow fell to Delhi by 6 wickets. With bat and the ball, they outclassed their opponents.

In this clash, Delhi skipper Axar Patel won the toss and chose to bowl. Lucknow’s batting struggled and they managed just 141 runs in 18.4 overs. Abdul Samad was their top scorer with 36, while Mitchell Marsh chipped in with 35. For Delhi, both Lungi Ngidi and T Natarajan grabbed three wickets each. Kuldeep Yadav added two more, and Axar picked up one.

Chasing 142, Delhi’s batters looked comfortable. Though they lost 4 wickets in quick succession, yet they picked up the pace to secure the match. Sameer Rizvi anchored the innings with an unbeaten 70, and Tristan Stubbs finished on 39 not out, steering Delhi to victory in the 18th over.

Very happy with the bowling effort: Axar Patel”

Sameer Rizvi struck a brilliant unbeaten half-century as an all-round Delhi Capitals beat Lucknow Super Giants by six wickets in the fifth match of IPL 2026. After the match, DC captain Axar patel said, “It finished early but middle it had become close. We just needed one partnership and that’s what we spoke about in the break. Very happy with the bowling effort. When we started with the ball, we knew there was a bit of help for the bowlers, that was communicated to whoever was coming onto bowl. You see how the match is going, there was a bigger and smaller boundary, and I was seeing who I can bowl, in the end I might have miscalculated. The plan was to play Rizvi, but also have the option to Ashutosh Sharma. Last year Ashu did it in the first game and this time Rizvi. He works hard on his game and keeps asking how he can improve himself.”

Adam Zampa chooses PSL due to lack of money in IPL

The Pakistan Super League (PSL) has been making headlines recently and for all the wrong reasons. Firstly, players abandoned the PSL to join the IPL. Then, commentators followed suit and a ball-tampering incident served as the nail in the coffin. But Australian spinner Adam Zampa claimed that he does not receive remuneration commensurate with his talent in the IPL, a sentiment he cited as the reason for not registering for the league’s player auction last year.

In a desperate attempt at damage control, the PCB, seeking to portray the PSL in a more favorable light, has now enlisted the aid of foreign players. Speaking to a Pakistani channel, Australian spinner Adam Zampa said, “I withdrew my name from the IPL this year. To be honest, a player with my skill set doesn’t earn as much there as certain other types of players do. And considering the amount of time the IPL consumes, playing in it didn’t seem like a sensible decision for me.”
