“Proud moment for the women’s game”: Devine after inaugural women’s Hundred auction

Sophie Devine spoke about the promising future of women’s cricket after getting the highest big in the inaugural women’s Hundred auction on Wednesday. Welsh Fire secured her service for £210,000 in the first ever women’s Hundred. “Look, certainly exceeded expectations by a fair stretch” Devine said. “The really cool thing for me is just to see where the women’s game’s gone – from back when I first started and you got paid 30 bucks for a weekend to some of the money that was getting thrown around. So, look, I’m certainly really privileged and grateful for the opportunity and to be snapped up.”

“But more importantly, to see where the women’s game’s got to… it’s hard to believe that it’s got to this point and it’s only going to continue to get better. So, yeah, really grateful and humbled. I’m sure I’ve already had about five or six people come up to me saying it’s my shout for the rest of my life. So, yeah, I think it’s all good. But for me, it’s a really proud moment for the women’s game.”

Blessing Muzarabani signed by KKR for IPL 2026

After a brilliant showing at the T20 World Cup 2026, Zimbabwe fast bowler Blessing Muzarabani is set to feature in the IPL 2026 with Kolkata Knight Riders. KKR confirmed the signing on Friday of Muzarabani as he came into the side after KKR were instructed by the BCCI in December to release Bangladesh left-arm bowler Mustafizur Rahman.

Muzarabani who won a PSL title before with Multan Sultams would not play for his current PSL team Islamabad United in 2026. He had gone unsold at the PSL auction last month but became a direct signing by Islamabad United as a replacement player for West Indies’ Shamar Joseph.
