Afghanistan vs Sri Lanka Series Cancelled

Afghanistan vs Sri Lanka

Tensions from the Iran-Israel war have started to spill into the world of cricket, shaking up plans across the region. The Afghanistan-Sri Lanka white-ball series in the UAE was postponed due to this conflict. Both cricket boards pulled the plug because of flight chaos, safety worries, and the general sense of unease hanging over the Middle East right now.

This tour was supposed to run from March 13th to 25th, with three T20s and three ODIs on the schedule. Afghanistan was set to play host. But as a Sri Lanka Cricket official told AFP, with flights disrupted and fighting in the region, there really wasn’t any other choice but to cancel. Afghanistan was all set to host Sri Lanka in a bilateral series for the first time ever. The war dashed those plans.

₹131 Crore Reward Announced for Team India

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced a massive cash reward of ₹131 crore for Team India after their T20 World Cup 2026 win on Sunday. That’s even bigger than what they gave out last time. When Rohit Sharma led the team to victory in the 2024 T20 World Cup, the BCCI handed out ₹125 crore. But with this latest win, they decided to top their own record.

This year, Suryakumar Yadav captained India to a thrilling victory over New Zealand in the final at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. India didn’t just win, they made history. No team had ever defended their T20 World Cup title before. But now, India stands alone at the top.

Arshdeep Singh fined 15% of his match fee

Indian fast bowler Arshdeep Singh landed in trouble with the ICC after he hurled the ball aggressively at New Zealand’s Daryl Mitchell during the T20 World Cup 2026 final. The tense moment sparked a brief flare-up on the field.

Because of this, the ICC docked 15 percent of Arshdeep’s match fee. Just to recap, India clinched the T20 World Cup title on March 8 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, and they did it in style.

Arshdeep broke Article 2.9 of the ICC Code of Conduct, which basically says you can’t throw the ball or anything else on the field at someone, especially not in a dangerous way. Along with the fine, he picked up a demerit point on his record. It’s his first in the last two years, so he’s still in the clear for now.
